Change cannot happen without people.

It is not enough to talk about it. It is not enough to sit and wait for others to do the work for you.

You must will change with all your might -- until even your bones demand action from you.

"Change brings opportunity." - Nido Qubein

"Change is the only constant. Hanging on is the only sin." - Denise McCluggage

"If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living." - Gail Sheehy

If you have no passion, you cannot have a sense of purpose.

So, find what makes you tick and want to be the best you can be.

You may think that you only have 24 hours in a day. But, each hour is made up of 3,600 seconds. And one second can make a complete difference in another person's life.

Smiling actually takes half a second.

One of the greatest pieces of advice I have ever received on writing was this:

"Always share your happiest thoughts on paper. And force yourself to find a positive angle to the not-so-happy ones."

Well, the same goes for life. Every cloud has a silver lining. Nothing is impossible.

The brain is a powerful machine that you can train at will. So, use it well!

Miscellaneous thoughts - November 3, 2011

In this day and age, talk has become cheaper than cheap. As a result, praises without relevant actions have no value beyond a fleeting moment of ego-stroking bliss for both the "admirer" and the praised.

The ego is part of us. Human beings actually need it to experience a sense of self. Unfortunately, it is an unruly toddler that we must keep a daily eye on.

To make the world a better place, we must stop talking and start listening. Listening to the pearls of wisdom silence sends our way.

Only those who are willing to let go of their fears can truly achieve greatness in their lives.

A lot of people crave attention for the wrong reasons.

If you cannot use your skills to help others, you might as well not use them at all.

Use your voice to speak on important issues. Let your actions be the testimony of your greatness, and not your lack of intelligence.

God has given you tools, use them wisely.

Don't be an hindrance to the world, but rather a compassionate being who understands that every action has consequences.

And if you make mistakes, acknowledge them, apologize and move on.

Help us help others. Help us launch KIP Education & Prevention Programs!

Widget_37361

For the last twelve months, Karen Alexander and I have worked hard towards creating an independent organization called K.I.P. Education & Prevention Programs. K.I.P. stands for Knowledge Is Power

This organization is very dear to my heart. If we can launch it, we will be able to help many people  in my area (Winnipeg). But we will not do it alone. We will partner with established organizations to provide a series of all-inclusive programs (art, sports, nutrition, certification, employment preparation, etc.) that target the specific needs of at-risk youth ages 16 to 18

Unfortunately, we cannot start anything without the necessary funds. A few weeks ago, we launched an online fundraising campaign with IndieGogo: http://www.indiegogo.com/KIP-Education-Prevention-Programs.  The link contains more information about KIP, the fundraiser and what we plan to do with your money. We have until December 2 to collect the amount.

With that being said, if you only have spare change, it's ok too! You can just send us a dollar or two at http://bit.ly/donate4kip. This is a Paypal link for ongoing donations.

You can find us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. We also have a website. And should you have any question, feel free to contact us at info@kip-programs.org.

Here is the second part of a video that was taken during our September 7 fundraiser in support of KIP. Karen explains what our plans for the new organization are.

If you like what you see, please donate a dollar or two at http://bit.ly/donate4kip. It will certainly go a (very) long way. To be kept in the loop regarding the advances of KIP, subscribe to our newsletter

Thank you for your help!

Two Canadian authors launch fundraiser to start charitable organization

Two authors from Winnipeg, Manitoba are trying to raise funds to start a charitable program which will have the goal of helping those in need through educational and prevention programs.

KIP (Knowledge Is Power) Education & Prevention Programs wants to help “at-risk youth, newcomers and low-income Canadians through all-inclusive programs in Winnipeg — and ultimately Canada,” an idea that spawned from co founder Kay Alexander.

Independent writers: What is good content | Creative Ramblings - A Blog by Cendrine Marrouat

About 80 percent of people scan the first page of an article before deciding if they are going to read it or not. People have busy lives. So, good content is essential to entice the reader’s mind.

It is important to observe specific writing styles and understand what makes them effective and attractive to so many readers. Major writers – whether they are novelists, poets, bloggers or journalists –share the same great feature. They awake certain feelings in their readers. In other words, the content that they provide answers specific questions people have.

So, what exactly is good content?
